Today on the blog, I am changing things up a bit. I will be posting my review on the Revlon Salon 360 Surround Styler. I bought this new hair dryer and wanted to share my thoughts on the performance, as well as features. So let’s get this started!
To give you some background, I have used a typical hair dryer over the course of my life…nothing fancy. I have used dryers with attachments/settings (air flow angler, diffuser, cold shot/multiple heat modes), still, I would not consider any of my previous hair drying stylers “salon quality”. They got the job done!
Over the past several months, I have read positive articles on the Revlon Salon 360 Surround Styler, and I thought “Next time I go to Target, I will pick that up……”. But, I never actually added the item to my “Target List”, so of course, it never made it into my cart! Ha!
Fast forward many months…… I was heading to the checkout lanes at my local Kroger, and there, on a sale end cap was the Revlon Salon 360 Surround Styler!!!! On MEGA sale—to the tune of 50%!!! So for the bargain-basement price of $30, the hairdryer made its way into my cart……it was like the item FOUND ME!!! Maybe divine intervention, I’m not sure! LOL.
When the next opportunity to use this new styling tool came about, I was so stinking excited!! The dryer advertises the following features:
- 70% more drying coverage
- 1875 Watts max AC drying power
- 360 Surround ceramic ionic airflow
- 60% Faster drying with less damage
- Twist nozzle for airflow concentrated in classic mode
- 3 Heat/2 Speed settings
- Cold shot button
- Non-Slip side bumper (for countertop stability)
Now, I have really long and thick hair, so washing and drying my hair is a CHORE…..seriously! Totally not something I look forward to doing, because it’s a major time commitment. So, if this new hair dryer could reduce my drying time, that was a huge win for me! Also, my hair is quite coarse, regardless of what type of anti-frizz serum used. Seeing the claim that my hair would be smoother made my heart skip a beat! Having sleeker hair, more quickly dried sounded too good to be true!
Historically, when drying my hair, it has taken me a solid 17-18 minutes, using the medium or high heat settings, finishing with cold setting (to help reduce frizz). And by the time I was done, I was so HOT and SWEATY! So. Not. Fun.
Well, I tried out the dryer, and overall, I was super pleased!
I dried my hair with the Revlon Salon 360 Surrond Styler, using the 360 surround position (not the classic mode), section by section and my locks were dry in just under 10 minutes!!! That’s not even the best part… I was not sweating, nor was my face beet red! With the angle of the 360 surround, the air flowed more efficiently and directly, onto my hair sections, not toward my head/face/scalp, lending to my cooler comfort. That thrilled me!
The texture of my hair was incredibly smoother and sleeker after my drying experience, as compared to my old, traditional style dryer. This just gave me one more reason to love the new styling device!
My hair has natural wave, so, I do not expect a hair dryer to make my hair straight. That’s why I use a flat iron when I want the straight look. But, I tell you, this Revlon Salon 360 Surround Styler made my hair as straight as I have ever experienced, with just a hair dryer alone! Now, my hair was not STRAIGHT-straight, but for me, it was amazing! My locks would still require a flat iron for final styling, but for folks with less wave in their mane, a flat iron may not be necessary after drying on the 360 surround mode.
The design of the Revlon Salon 360 Surround Styler is super sharp! The feel of the handle is comfortable and easy to manipulate. The ceramic coating inside the nozzle and the High-Endurance motor, do make the dryer heavier. Personally, I don’t mind. I view it as an opportunity to get an arm workout for the day (Ha!), but I can see how that may be a deal-breaker for potential buyers.
I can say the price was a major selling point for me! Clearly, 50% off is a steal, but after testing this new dryer out, I am certain I would have paid full price for all the added benefits it provided me. But, I have checked around, and Amazon has the best price on this beauty, $49.99 plus Prime shipping!
